Growing areas of Saffron
The areas for growing saffron depend entirely on the conditions for cultivating this particular specie. One of the places where the saffron plant is perfect for cultivation is in Iran, where 96 % of saffron is cultivated. This particular percentage would refer to around 120 tons of saffron per year.
Other areas where cultivation for saffron is probable are Greece and India. In India, there is a cultivation of around 6 tons annually while Greece only produces 1.5 tons. Other regions that also produce saffron in are Morocco and Spain.
Some other areas or regions that are also capable of producing saffron are Afghanistan, Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy and Southern France.
